My two girls seem so small compared to most other chins. They're both 9 months old and one weighs only 485 grams and the other only 504 grams.

Will they most likely keep growing? I've heard they can gain weight until they're 2 years old and keep growing, but they haven't gained much weight in the last two months. They aren't thin by any means. Just look at this picture of my 485 gram chin lol

Are these ok weights? I'm not worried about their health, just more curious than anything I guess. I would love to take my girls to shows someday, but will their weight be an issue. I know it would be an issue if I planned on breeding them, but I have no desire to breed either of them ever.

Sounds like they are on the smaller side. As long as they are not thin and you can't feel bones I would not worry.

I'm not really worried about it, more like curious. I got them from different breeders, and it just seems odd that they're both so small. lol I guess I just have small chins.

On average they are on the small size, but as long as they are healthy, I wouldn't worry about it. I have had some chins grow until about 18 months old (normally my BVs), but typically by 9-12 months they are done.... and remember for show it's size, not weight. I have a couple of ~600 g chins that look big and have done fairly well at shows.

If they are eating and acting welll I wouldn't worry, some chins are just smaller than others. As breeders we can't ever guarentee a kit will grow large, I had one kit out of 2 800 gram chins that stopped growin at 450. He was happy and healthy. And some colors like ebs can take longer to grow, so they may chunk up yet.

They're both happy, healthy, and active. I'm not concerned about their health in the least. More curious if anyone else had younger chins that were small that kept growing and ended up larger after time went on. :)

One of my boys was only around 450 at a year old, he avgs 580-630 as an adult (he is still on the small side physically) and he is gray, not one of the typical colors you see mentioned taking longer to grow but if kept growing after a year. Your adorable chin in the picture looks great to me. I think a lot of people put more emphasis on weight than they should. It's good to periodically weigh your chin so if there is a drastic weight loss you can figure out what caused it but overall it does not matter how much a chin weighs so long as it's not so skinny you can feel ribs.

I have a violet wrap girl who is TINY...477g but she is stout. She has fat rolls! She's just really, really small and round. It's almost like she never "grew up" even though she's almost 14 months old. I have a pair of twin extra dark eb girls...they are 576g and 633g now at nearly 17 months old. BTW those weights are from today. Chins do indeed come in all shapes and sizes...it's funny 'cause the tiny one eats the most...LOL!

Yuki eats all day long. lol She has quite the fat rolls on her, too! She's just tiny, I guess. I did weigh Momo yesterday and she's up to 520! So she's gained quite a bit the last few weeks. I didn't get a chance to weigh Yuki yesterday, but i'm going to try today and see if she's gained, too!

Boji - 6 years - 479
Buddha - 15 months - 482
Nixi - 15 months - 499
Maia - 3 years - 728

When I got Maia at 12 weeks old, she was about 400 and didn't reach her current weight until she was 2, so I'm definitely expecting Nixi and Buddha to continue growing steadily for another 9 months. All are happy, healthy and very solid, just small.

One of my girls weighs only 460g. She's easily the smallest although she's actually the oldest. Not very strong but **** is she fast!
