1year old adopted

Hi! I adopted a beautiful year old Chinchilla named Tico, from a woman who is pregnant and could no longer care for him. He is in the same cage, same water bottle. He is eating food and hay, took a short dust bath and is active and alert.

Tico has been with us for two days and hadn't not taken a sip of water. Before I bother his previous owner, as she is on bed rest, can anyone tell me if this is normal?

I am giving him bottled water, not tap, btw.
Any info is greatly appreciated!

Have you tapped the bottle ball and made sure it worked?

Are you marking the bottle to see if he's drinking or just going on what you've observed?
