I have raised kittens before so I know they need stimulation to go potty. He's eating KMR pretty well, and when stimulating him he has urinated, but no BM. When stimulating earlier I did get a small amount of poo, but nothing to really talk about. Just enough to make a small mark on the rag. I have been using a warm damp rag and lightly rubbing his back end.

On another forum someone mentioned giving him a small amount of mineral oil in case he is constipated. I wanted to make sure this was ok first.

Anyone raised baby kitties before that may have some better knowledge than mine?

I only hand raised 2 kittens back in April and they were only 1 week old and 1st time doing this. I was worried because I didn't see a lot of poop or any poop for days. Sometimes in would be a smudge on a cotton ball. They did pee a lot.

I hope things go good for you and raising this little guy.

With young kittens, it is really hard to see any sort of fecal matter outside of a smudge on a cotton ball. Is the kitten acting normal? Is he/she lethargic, or does his/her tummy seem really bloated? If so, I would see a vet. You could try some tummy massage (VERY gentle), but it sounds like you're doing a good job right now!

He's only 10 days old and abandoned, possibly without regular feedings until you stepped in. He may well just not have much unused stuff to pass just yet. I don't remember having to deal with much solid waste from little kittens until the 2-2.5 week mark (but it's been several years since I've had a foster litter). I'd give him until Thursday or so before worrying too much, and keep an eye on the belly, behavior, and bloating as mentioned, but call a vet in the AM just in case.

Apparently he didn't have a good amount of food until we got him because this morning he had a HUGE poo. It just kept coming. He is eating really well. He latched right onto the bottle. He was 177g. after his first feeding and he's 191g. today.

I just recently tried to save some newborns that had been abandoned and it turns out they may have been born prematurely, which is why momma abandoned them. They were pooping and peeing daily, but died after a few days. They were near dead when I found them, but I feel bad I couldn't keep them alive. But their pees were after every feeding, and poos were probably once a day. It sounds like your rescued kitten is doing very well and I wish you the best of luck!

Ours has luckily been spunky from the begining. He was dropped off at the pet store around the corner from our home. I went in there to get more cat litter and saw him and fell in love. One of the workers there said they were taking him home, but lo and behold I got a call later that day (they have my number for small animal rescue) saying that he just wouldn't shut up and she knew her boyfriend would have a fit if she brought him home.

Once he got a full belly and a warm, cozy bed he quieted down. He actually slept almost through the night last night. From 1am to 6am when my roomie woke up. Our goal was to feed him every 4 hours, but she slept in accidently (we have seperate alarms now just for feeding). Boy oh boy did he let her know it too! He was so loud until he got that nipple in his mouth. Then he quieted down and has been a little purr bucket since.

Sorry about the blurriness. It focused on the wall behind him. :p

Right now you may not want to. No matter how much I wash his bottom he still smells like pee. :( He's one smelly little kitty. I keep trying the introduction with my other cat hoping she will like him enough to clean him. :p She's interested to a point. She'll sniff him and then walk away. That's not helping Satin!

There are pet wipes that may make kitty smell better. That kitten is adorable, and now I have truely fallen in love with him!!!

I've been using unscented baby wipes, and this morning he had a bottom half bath. He smelled better until this afternoon and now he smells like urine again. I'll just keep up the baby wipe/lower bottom baths until my kitty decides she likes him enough to clean him. Hopefully that's soon. :p

I speak from experience when I say it will be hard NOT to keep him!!

He's adorable!:heart3:
