Aww, those little ones are adorable. Good luck and congrats on your new addition. :) I don't know what I would do if one of my boys passed. I would probably think about it before getting another chin, but I would most likely get another. And it would probably be a color I haven't had before.

I would beware of letting the cat near the chinchilla because cats carry Pasteurella bacteria which is fatal to chinchillas and untreatable. I know a lot of people let their cats and dogs around their chinchilla cages, but most chinchillas I have seen are stressed around them and dislike them.

Very cute chin! The only thing that is not safe that I can see is the wheel. Her feet can get caught and injured on it. Safe wheels are the flying saucer or the chin spin. If you give her time, she should be more comfortable. Metal shelves are just fine for them, I have a cage with metal shelves...

Mine do this also. There's no stopping them except for blocking it off with cardboard or something else they can't chew.

My 6 boys have saucers and love to use them.

All 6 of my boys have and use the flying saucer and love it.

At the time I voted 5, but I have 6 males currently. :)

So pretty! Congrats! :) Kacking is just their way of saying they don't want to be bothered. So she may need longer to adjust to you and get used to being handled. I'd try and keep the other animals away from her because they can stress chins out and possible hurt them. But good luck!

That's an awesome cage set up! I'm working on changing some of our cages around a little when their little ledges and fleece half ledges get here. :))
