    UTI/ Bladder Stone?

Surgery has been postponed until tomorrow. After more research, and consultation, my vet is going to try a technique to move the stone into the bladder before performing surgery. Obviously this would be more ideal than cutting the urethra, so I am anxiously praying that they are successful tomorrow.

    UTI/ Bladder Stone?

Surgery has been scheduled for the morning. I brought Jameson's travel cage and accessories to the vets, and he is staying there over night. He's on metacam and they're giving him sub-q fluids. He is able to pee around the stone but it is very painful. I'm going to try to remember to have him...

    UTI/ Bladder Stone?

On my phone sorry for any typos. They found a urethral stone. Vet is not optimistic about using a catheter to flush it back into the bladder. Vet is consulting a specialist in Columbus about performing surgery on the urethra vet isn't sure if such a surgery is possible. Anyone experienced this...

    UTI/ Bladder Stone?

Last night I noticed Jamie making an odd thrusting motion. He proceeded to clean his penis, which I rarely observe him doing, so I just chalked it up to his normal grooming ritual. This morning I noticed that he was continuing to do it, so I gave him a fur ring check, and found nothing. This...

Help, what's going on with his ear?

No, he hadn't been out playing. I was talking to Stackie and she said it looked like blood vessels had burst in his ear. I didn't know that could happen. It doesn't seem to be bothering him which is good.

Help, what's going on with his ear?

What is going on with his ear? He has chronic dry skin, that I treat with bagbalm, and monitoring his baths, but I'm concerned with the dark red section that wasn't there last night. The picture may be deceptive, in real life it all appears to be under the skin, no scratches or cuts from what I...

    Female urinating to mark territory?

Hey C-n-H, I haven't been on the forum in ages, but I enjoy keeping up with a lot of you via facebook! I'm in my 2nd year of teaching, and loving every minute of it; although it keeps me very busy. Lady did the oddest thing the other night, and I'd like your opinion on it: I've been dating...

    Need some good advice :)

Aww they seem sweet! I'm not going to beat around the bush here. NO Raisins ever. They have too much sugar, and the chinchillas sensitive digestive track is not meant to process it. Plus, chinchillas can't brush their teeth, so all that sticky sweet stuff just coats their mouths. Feeding...

List of fruits chins can eat?

A few years ago Oxbow changed it's forumla, she didn't like the new taste and stopped eating it. I didn't catch it until her GI system was already off kilter, at that point she was picking at hay and had some gas built up in her system. I didn't know about the formula change at the time, so my...

List of fruits chins can eat?

I don't even bother with treats. Their 'treats' are safe wood chews. Digestive issues are NOT fun. I have a chin with a chronic bloat condition. It has taken a lot of trial and error with her diet to regulate her system. Since this nightmare started it's just not worth it to me to give treats...

    Leaving chins alone for days

When I'm gone I have someone stop in once a day. One of my chins drinks from a water cup that needs to be changed regularly. I change it twice a day, but I don't think it's fair to burden a sitter with that. So I just ask them to come at approximately the same time every day (mornings or nights)...

    Chins 'n' Beds

I made a weighted dust ruffle that went down to the floor, so the couldn't get under the bed. I bought cheap non-fitted sheets at walmart, and sewed a tunnel around the edge that would touch the floor. Then I inserted 2" dowel rods so it would be weighted down.I just tucked the sheet between the...

    Kinda fat, yet hyper chinchilla??

I agree 100% with AZChins, completely normal. I would go back to free feeding her as well. She may gain a little weight if you've been restricting her pellets for awhile, but she'll level off. Also, I have 2 boys that are almost 2 years old. While their growth has tapered quite a bit they are...

"All Living Things" Chinchilla Daily Diet. good? or bad?

The only thing I buy at the petstore is Oxbow hay, otherwise I stay away. I feed Tradition pellets because they're good for chins, and easy for me to get (I order from Sandi on this forum :-D ). I don't buy any of the treats or chew toys at the petstore because there is no way of knowing if...
