    Hamsters

I've got a female normal winter white who's been with me for a year. Her name's Hay Hay as when we first got her, she was really munching down on a lot of hay. I mostly just observe the things she does in the cage as we made her a pretty big cage so there's a lot of things for her to do when...

    Moths in my chins food?

I have faced similar problems with my hamster food but never my chin food. Are you using an air tight container? I place mine in a normal container (not air tight) and put a packet of silica gel in the container together with my food to keep the air inside dry. I also avoid putting my food...

    Having a panic- cage bottoms

You could choose from various beddings for the bottom of you cage. The popular choices are kiln pine pellet or fleece bedding. As for the cage itself, have you removed the ramps and change the plastic ledges to a chin-safe material?

    Hamsters

Just wondering, how many of you guys have hamsters as pets too? And if you have hamsters, what are the colours of your hamsters?

What is safe for my 4 month old chin?

I currently have a 4 month old chin as well and he's in a two level cage. As he doesn't seem very confident about jumping yet, I didn't upgrade him to my existing 4 level cage. I think you would just have to observe your chin and see if he/she is jumping around comfortably both up and down...

She probably just wants to play for an even longer time!

Good chin toys around the house?

Are toilet paper rolls okay? I've heard that as it's treated paper we shouldn't be using it for chins? (I'm using toilet paper rolls for my hamster though.)

I can't tell if Nymira hates it, loves it, or is just bored.

I make a noise that associates with anything that I don't want my chin to be doing. So my chin will know that whenever he hears that noise he knows he shouldn't be doing whatever he's doing. After awhile, he just doesn't do it anymore.

Chin home alone for 2 days, help!

If the cage is big enough, a chin doesn't really need play time outside of the cage. But if the cage is pretty small, I think some play time would be good :)

    Bathing

It's humid here in Singapore so I try and sand bath my chin on a daily basis at a fixed timing of around 7-8pm. Sometimes he would immediately start bathing himself but after that for the next couple of days, he would just enter the bathing container and stone there. Could this be that he...

    Avitron Vitamins

You could try the oxbow natural science vitamins. I feed that to my chins. They've a variety so you can choose whichever you think your chin needs. I'm alternating between multi-vitamin and digestive support right now.

    Possible successful trio

Awesome. May I know if it is easier to bond same sex chinchillas compared to opposite sexes?

    Hands

Hey, if that's the case, does your chin have problems holding on to food and what not?

Introducing a puppy to a chinchilla

I tried introducing a dog to my chin but it didn't work out at all. My chin kept on bouncing off the walls of the cage and dog kept barking at my chin. So for introduction between a dog and a chin, I think it really depends on both animals and it will be a case by case basis. Nothing is...

    Hands

Everything is healed. How can a chin lose its toe during the birthing process?

    Hands

Just FYI, my other chin had hands that were like this. This photo was taken when she was about almost a year old.

    Hands

Gary was born on the 23 Feb of this year. I just got him from a local pet store one week ago and it's only until I brought him home that I realised his hands seem to have some defect compared to my previous chin. Is this a defect or are his hands still growing? If it is a defect, what could have...

    Post OP Chinny

Antibiotics can lower a chinchilla's appetite. Whatever the case, providing water would be the most important.
