I think playtime is great and good for chins, as long as it is in a safe environment and they are monitored. However, my chins rarely get playtime either. They have double ferret nations, wheels and lots of toys. They seem to be very happy. As long as they have lots to do, they should be just fine!

They will learn. Some chins take longer than others. I remember when my Chichi had her kits and I gave them their first dust bath. Tribble went right in, but it took Tia a couple times. They will learn from momma.

I bought from American Pet Diner and received the same type of hay. The company has said that their machines were calibrated wrong and that is why the hay came out so short.

Most chins are not talkative. They all have their own distinct personalities. My chins rarely make noises. Sometimes they will make grunting noises or squeaks and they will bark, but it's really rare.

I feel the same way! I always check out Craigslist! I seldom ever try to get any chinchillas, because people always want ridiculous rehoming fees and it's just not feasible for me. I did try to get one that was in absolute horrendous conditions, but it died before I even contacted the person :(...

Just to let you know, fans do nothing for chinchillas. A fan cools you by moving air across sweat on your body. Chinchillas don't sweat, so it's useless. You need to have an A/C unit if the temps go above 70-72. It's a must with chinchillas.
