    Chin diarrhea

Try pulling all pellets for 3 days and just give hay. Usually, that will straighten out loose stools. I second not giving these treats again. Unfortunately, pet stores and manufacturing companies frequently only care about the money, not whether it's actually healthy for your pet.

Chin with labored breathing, not getting better with antibiotics. Thoughts?

The answer is not always that easy. Not everybody has $2000.00 sitting around. As to the poster, the vet cannot diagnose a tooth issue without x-rays. However, I will say this. I have had many chins over the years with the symptoms you have described who are NOT dental issues. They get...

    Hay Shortage

They'll be fine with the orchard.

    Cage Height

I'd stick with the two-level. They don't really need the third level, and as you said, would be a challenge to clean. A two-level has more than enough room for two furkids.

    Brushes

Chinchillas don't get brushed, they get combed. Their fuzz is so thick a brush isn't going to do much. You can find them cheaper, but this is what they look like...

Can I use oatmeal as glue?

There is glue that is edible. Elmer's is and there are others.

    Unknown Blood Spotting

Check their feet. If they are too dry, they can crack, bleed, and even develop bumblefoot. Check their pads and toes specifically.

NURSING MOMMA CHIN WITH DIARRHEA PLEASE HELP!?

Okay, first, abrupt switches in feed can be very, very hard on a chinchilla, especially an underweight nursing mom. If you run out of food again, your chin will be okay if she just gets a good quality hay for a few days until you can get more. Definitely hold the craisins. So, my advice...

What's the mutation of this chinchilla?

I can't answer that question without seeing the pedigree of the parents or knowing the breeding animals personally. Nobody can answer that question by guessing. Some mosaics look like they might be eb/whites because their gray is so dark. Conversely, an "eb/white" might look like a plain...

What's the mutation of this chinchilla?

Mutation depends on genetics. Is there eb in the line? If there isn't then it's a plain mosaic. Is there TOV in the line? If there isn't, mosaic. Is there violet, sapphire, etc. in the line? If not, then it's mosaic. Any chin cross with white can be a mosaic, but people like to label...

What's the mutation of this chinchilla?

Mosaic. What is the father? The fur is very yellow. Is he/she getting dust baths?

Is vita prima sun salad safe for chinchillas?

I agree with Amethyst. I would pass on that food. Just a good quality plain pellet would be much better. I'll add to the suggestions about and recommend fuzzyskingdom.com. She has wonderful stuffs.

    Urine Color

Reddish urine is totally normal. It can be orange to red. It is a bit frightening to a new person though, as it looks like blood. No fruits or veggies though. Good quality feed, good quality hay, fresh water, wood chews, and minimal treats. Water is also very important, both quality and...

My chin can't eat. I need help!

She needs to be x-rayed. He cannot tell if she's got a fracture in the jaw, a broken tooth, or some kind of internal injury. Lethargy is deadly in chins. I realize he may not have a lot of experience, but x-rays are pretty standard for any critter.

Did he x-ray her? If not, there could easily be something broken that he missed.

    Weighing Chins

I don't weigh mine, but, it can be a helpful indicator of problems. Chins hide their illnesses because they are the bottom of the food chain. Knowing if they have lost a good amount of weight could be helpful in knowing if they are suffering from an illness. I don't mean 10 gm of weight, I...

Should My Chin Go To The Vet?

I guess I never really thought about it! I just grabbed a bottle of vitamin E capsules off the shelf.

    Bear with me :)

I am not impressed with the smoosh method. I just cut their whiskers, throw in a dust bath, some hay, maybe a wood chew (distractions) and see what happens.

Should My Chin Go To The Vet?

Vitamin E capsules in the vitamin section. Poke a hole in the end and rub it on.
