My friend's chinchilla has diarrhea please help!

Does the poop smell bad? Giardia causes diarrhea, mucous, and sometimes blood. The poop smells pretty bad, that's one way you can tell. Either way, rectal bleeding is in no way normal. If it is Giardia she's going to need to treat her chin, and whether it's that or something else, the chin...

Best treatment bath dust mix for treating and preventing ringworm?

I didn't read everything you linked to, but I use Tinactin antifungal foot powder in their dust baths when they have ringworm. If that doesn't help, I go with topical Blu-Kote once or twice a day for 10 days.

Abcess (Retrobulbar Abscess - Bulging eye) - Good antibiotic? Baytril Alternatives?

Ugh. It started bulging again. I was really hoping she was over the hump. When mine abscessed I tried both Baytril and TMS. As your vet stated though, unless you can drain the initial infection, antibiotics aren't going to do much of anything. You have to get the pus/infection out first...

    Complications after 2 foot fall?

If he is doing everything normal, he's probably fine. He may have sprained something, but if he's putting weight on it and jumping around, it must not be too awful. Monitor him and see if it improves. If it doesn't, then talk to a vet.

    Chinchilla - Bulging/Protruding eye?

-For baytril/enrolfloxacin - Is it safe to take for 3 weeks or maybe even longer? Given the fact that it took nearly a month of physically draining the original abcess above her eye until it healed - If the same thing is happening behind her eye Im guessing it may take more then a month since...

    Chinchilla baby getting neglected-Help!

Warm compresses and, hopefully, antibiotic from the vet if necessary. Can you express milk from it? You don't want it to harden up. It's very painful. See if you can gently get milk to flow. Make sure whatever antibiotic he gives you is safe for the babies. Do NOT let him give you...

My male chins are not getting along.

Separate them. Give them a while to cool off, get them back to their normal selves and weights. Then if you want to try again, VERY CAREFULLY, you can. Odds are though, they are done as cagemates.

    Pink and patchy nose?

You really see it in the second picture. You can try getting some Blu-Kote (liquid) and daub it on there twice a day. It's really safe but SUUUPER messy. It stains everything if you're not careful!

    How soon

As long as you have a contained area where you can scoop him up and put him away, you can let him out any time. If you've got him quarantined from another chin, you need to have him run in a different area.

    Ringworm!! Advice needed!!!

They put baby chins on oral antifungal? I'm very surprised. For future reference, I suggest using either topical Blu-Kote or putting an anti-fungal powder in the dust bath. It's very possible that Walt can have a recurrence after being handled by someone with ringworm. It sounds as though...

    3 New Kits - 1 Loosing weight

You're definitely going to need to jump in there. That is way too much weight loss in one so small. I would try, right away, to rotate. Two out, him in by himself. Do it in two-hour increments. If you decide that hand feeding is the way to go, and I have to tell you at 31 gm, I'd be hand...

How much critical care is safe?

You can also try massaging her stomach, which will help her get things moving. Is she drinking enough water? I find that when I feed any hand-fed food that it goes a lot better if I syringe in some water after every couple mL's. Water also gets things moving.

    Chinchilla and Parrot

I would never have my chins at 70 degrees. At 70 degrees, I am in complete panic mode. In the winter, my chin room is 55 tops. In the summer, it hits 60 and I am putting in another AC. I'm not sure who decided 70 is safe for chins to live in. Try putting on a full-length fur coat and...
