    When your nightmare comes true.

Let me tell you about Stacie's Neeko. I referred to him as "My favorite chin that doesn't belong to me" when i would tell stories about him to my friends. I loved him even though I knew him only through the forum. He was beloved by many of us on this forum and we ALL grieved for a very long...

2 Female Chins suddenly attack cagemate

I have had 2 instances of bullying. Both times vet visits were required, and my vet recommended neutering them both to take the testosterone out of the equation. I prefer to put the bully in a separate cage. However, if the chin was badly beaten, I remove it into a small cage and keep them...

Chin biting when picked up - help please

Mr. Whiskers sometimes gets pissy and (I think) accidentally bites out of frustration when he doesn't get what he wants. I both blow in his face and give a tap across the nose and say, "NO biting Mommy!!! No bite!!!" I then immediately leave the room. I'm like, "There's your attention, pal!!!"...

    AMEN to that, Sandi!!!

    Advice please?

Agree with Susan...once blood is drawn, you must separate them ASAP!!! Or, risk possibly coming home to a dead chin. :( Pull the bully/abuser and house him alone. Anytime you have multiple chins, even siblings, together in a cage, you must have an emergency cage on hand to separate them in...

    Help! Chinchilla fighting..

It's true about "vet cooties". Anytime I have to take one my bonded pair anywhere, they BOTH go. It's not just vet cooties, but then that way, when we get home, nobody "owns" the cage. Things are as they always were. Good luck with your baby. Maybe give him a roll in the communal dust bath so...

Chins broke out of cage and ate endless snacks

Tupperware??? No way -- it's plastic. That would just be an appetizer for them!!! LOL!!! Glass jars/metal storage containers would be better. Hope everyone is OK...

    Is it a girl thing?

If they have a favorite corner, you could put a high sided corner pan with shavings/Carefresh in it and the high corner would help contain their pee. You could also put a piece of fleece over both sides of the corner as a shield, and something under the cage to catch the runoff.

    A Hard Decision...

I would keep her at your parents' and get her a wheel. As has been said, at least she'll be safe with your parents and you can get her back. You can even see her on holiday breaks and summers!!!

    A difficult situation

Split the FN in half immediately and get the other chin in the cage. Free roaming is NOT recommended.

    2013 West Coast MCBA Show

I had the pleasure of meeting Buddy's mom, Linda, at the ECBC National Show in Denver last month. I hope to get to meet Buddy himself next year at the Seattle show!!!

    Help

I'm so sorry for your loss. :flowers5: The little chin knew and felt love from you in his last days. He THANKS you for the greatest gift you could give him -- relief from his pain. You now have a little Chinnie Angel watching over you.

Ups and Downs of Breeding Chinchillas

OMG, Mark!!! What a wonderful, heartwarming, happy ending story!!! THANKS so much for sharing it!!! Even though I'm not a rancher, I would have had no idea that a cold, nearly/really dead kit could be revived!!! I'm sorry for your standard kit loss, but happy for its mother and the little...

    Help

I remember a member on here whose signature saying was, "Better a minute too soon, than a second too late". I have not had to feel the pain of making that most difficult decision, and I hope that I never do, but it would kill me to know that one of my Chinchildren was suffering because I...

    2013 WI MCBA Regional Show

WOO HOO!!! I've been on airfare alert for months. Unfortunately, it's Homecoming for the Badgers AND they're playing Northwestern, which I'm guessing is a pretty strong rivalry. Rates are over $300 and have been for months. I'm hoping they'll add some flights as the ones showing now fill...
