    RIP little man...

Can I still bake them with the hardware? I already took the cage apart and put it in the attic... I'd love another one but I'm just going to focus on my other existing chin for now. Do you think it's even worth cleaning it and reusing? I could make new ones since I do have extra hardware...

    RIP little man...

Thank you. This has been the first real pet death that I've had. Working in the veterinary field, I deal with it all the time but it's completely different when it's your own. I mean, I've lost hamsters in the past but going into it, I knew that they're only going to be a temporary pet. This...

    RIP little man...

I came home from a shopping trip and one of my chins had passed. There was no evidence of the cause, as he was perfectly fine the night before. No weight loss, there wasn't anything he could have chewed/gotten into, no visible injuries, healthy diet... He was his same old self just a few hours...

My Chinchilla is going to hurt herself

You don't want chins to get out of cage time or a wheel until they are 6 months old. Kits are reckless and tend to harm themselves. They also use up too much energy by exercising, which they should be using for growing. Over stimulating them can result in seizures, so it's best to avoid any...

    New kitten and chins?

So far, I can't tell how interested he is in them. He was definitely watching my friendly chin(he knows no fear... Loves everything) but that's all so far. I feel like he's a little afraid of the sounds they make when running around the cages, since he just bolts when he hears them Lol...

    New kitten and chins?

Thanks guys! I'm actually bringing him home today so we will see what happens. Unfortunately, my bedroom is the only room the chins and kitty can be so I'll need to do some kitty proofing. :] Oh wow, they are similar! We already have two clinic cats so we couldn't take in another one haha...

Thinking about getting chinchilla, have questions!

1 - You don't want an AC or fan blowing directly on the chinchilla. That can make them sick. As long as the room temperature is low enough, you'll be fine. 2 - Chinchillas do not need regular check ups and should really only see a vet if you suspect an issue. 3 - This is something that I am...

    New kitten and chins?

If the little guys FIV/FeLV test comes up negative, I'll be adopting another cat. He will be only 12 weeks when I bring him home and I'm super excited. Now, I'm looking for some information on getting him to ignore the chinchillas. He's a rather docile kitten and enjoys cuddles. However, like...

    Carriers?

I actually bought a double. So far I've managed to get only one chin in it though. One of them hates the other so I need him to go in first(can't pick him up so I've got to wait for him to go in on his own), then I can plop the other one in there. It's a bit smaller than I thought but I'm...

    No more blue cloud

So should I start buying blue sparkle or stock up on blue cloud while I can?

    Tile?

Okay so I just finished putting the tile in! Now to clean up, change some fleece accessories and add some new toys. :D I like how it turned out so far so hopefully I'll want to keep it. :] How does it look?

    Tile?

The tiles are just for the bottom. I'll likely need to take my cages apart at some point so I would rather them be removable. I can swap tiles easily that way if I need to as well. I'm only trying it out for now, so perhaps I'll grout them in the future if I decide to keep them. :]

    Tile?

Is there a safe way to seal it? With what specifically? What about the edges on the outside? I may or may not use bass pans with the tiles, I haven't decided yet.

    Tile?

Thank you. :D I'll pick some up soon. The store should cut it for me right? Does anyone know the measurements for a CN 162?

    Tile?

Can I use any ceramic tile? I want to make sure that I don't buy anything harmful. The one likes to pee in random spots(usually the corners but sometimes he will get adventurous) so I'm not sure if I want to try it with him yet.

    Tile?

I've been considering switching one of my chins from fleece to tile. This one in particular is good about going in his litter pan, while my other chin will pee in other corners on occasion(so he'll stay on fleece for the time being). I LOVE the fleece and I find it really brightens up the...

    Chinchilla Urinated on Fur

I believe you can use an unscented baby wipe to get any crust off, but most recommend dust baths.

    Picking chin up

There is no way I can catch him without snatching him. He will never let me get close enough to scoop him slowly... He also bolts too quickly that I don't want to grab at his tail. Grabbing the wrong way could definitely be a risk and I don't want to harm him. How can I get him to calm down...

    Picking chin up

My first chinchilla was given to me by my brother as a 'present'. What really happened was he purchased the little guy for his twins... Who were like 5 or 6 at the time. They were WAY too rough with him and would chase him around. Clearly it wasn't going to work out like they wanted, so he...
