    Essentials for Life

I went to order more since my little guy has decided to finally take to something, but it says that they are out of stock until the 18th... Does anyone have any on hand that they have available? I do have CC on hand but he really seems to prefer the Essentials. Please PM me if you do!

    Possible babys!

You want to count 111 days from the last day she was in contact with the male. If she hasn't had kits by then, she's likely not pregnant. If you haven't already, make sure you separate them and keep them separate. Pet store chins are definitely not breeding quality animals so you don't want...

Weight loss and small poop - HELP

He's at work now, I'm just waiting for her to finish a dental so he can get an x-ray done.

Weight loss and small poop - HELP

I also would like to know how many grams of pellets a chin should be eating overnight? He ate 9, but I feel that he usually eats more than that. He's also eating more hay since I ran out to get a bag. He's still not eating at much as I would like but it's a start. As long as something is...

Weight loss and small poop - HELP

Another question... How do you go about cleaning them up after a messy CC feeding? I wiped it off and gave him a dust bath, but I want to avoid further complications. He's not easy to handle at all and after I did manage to calm him down, he did feel a little scrawny. I don't want to overly...

Weight loss and small poop - HELP

Last night he had eaten a decent amount, but he didn't drink as much as I wanted him to(though it's a large bottle and it's difficult to tell even when I marked it). I don't think he ate as much hay as I would have liked though. He pooped a decent amount too, and they look a big larger, but I'm...

Weight loss and small poop - HELP

Chinchilla lost about 100g and his poops have been small for the last day or two. I've just ordered some lifeline, but I don't know when that will get here since it's the weekend. I can grab some CC at work, though I just tried to give him some today and he wanted no part of it. This stuff is...

    New Chinchillas and questions

Chinchilllas will poop everywhere... Some can be trained to pee in a litter pan, but they're going to poop everywhere no matter what you do. You want to make sure plastic is completely covered in fleece, or replaced with wood/metal. Chewing plastic can be deadly to chins so you need to remove...

    Bedding vs Fleece vs Tile

I just vacuum the fleece between changes. Here is what I did... I started out with shavings until I moved to my CN cage. For a cage with a deep bottom, I would still prefer to use shavings... But definitely not with the FN/CN. Even with the bass pans, I feel they're still not tall enough to...

    Intoducing/Boding 3 females

Personally, I would not. If your first two were that aggressive that you couldn't house them together, I wouldn't attempt it now. It's not worth the risking and I wouldn't feel comfortable. Trios are also tricky... Many times, existing pairs are ruined when a third is added and you end up with...

    Cage Revamp!

I absolutely love your cage. Recently I've switched to tile but I really miss the fleece. It's easier to clean but now he's peeing in places other than his litter pan. ._. Where did you get the house on the top level?

    Chins with dogs

I see no issue with it, as long as the dog leaves the cage alone. The chin should get used to it eventually. Mine were always fine with other animals in the room. As long as the chin remains in the cage, it should be fine.

    Heat?

Berks County. :/ It went from being 70 to below freezing very quickly. I cannot control the direction, but it does not overlap with the cage so it shouldn't cause a draft. I think it will be on such a low setting that it shouldn't be too noticeable. This would be the first time I've used it...

    Heat?

Okay so... Since it was just 70 degrees in December(I live in PA....), I have not taken the AC out yet. I think it's safe to do so at this point, as my room is now getting below 60. Anyway, my question is... Can I have my heat on low? Just to keep it from getting ice cold in there? I drew this...

How much are you looking for them?

    Playtime

Chins under 6 months shouldn't be getting out of cage time. Kits tend to play themselves into seizures because they don't know when to stop. They need to use their energy for growing, not playing. A very limited amount of out of cage time in a small area should be fine, but 20 minutes is far too...

    Stopped eating hay

I use Small Pet Select with no issues, it was always a hit.

    RIP little man...

I use vinegar to clean the cages, so I have plenty on hand. I think I'll just keep the stuff and make new ones... Perhaps the project will keep me busy. Tunes, you do bring up a good point. They do share a room and a dust bath. I haven't noticed any odd behaviors with my existing chin, but...
