    Odd question regarding raw food

Stool is fine, it's been thoroughly checked several times. The diarrhea is definitely a food related issue. He's been on a handful of medications and since switching brands, he's been getting better.

    Odd question regarding raw food

That was what I was afraid of. He's definitely one who might pull his food around, as I've seen him do it with treats when he think I'm going to take them. He was found as a stray at 5 weeks old so he's a bit obsessive over his food. Attempting a raw diet will just have to wait, it's not worth...

    Odd question regarding raw food

My concern is the possible contamination since he eats in my bedroom and my floor is carpet.

    Odd question regarding raw food

My kitten stays in my bedroom when I am not home to watch him, and at night. While he generally leaves the chinchilla alone, he does hop on top of the cage to watch him(I keep a towel down so he doesn't have access through the top). His claws are kept extremely dull and I have a CN so he cannot...

    Bloat?

I'd love some opinions. Bean feels slightly bloated to me, so I've started him back on the cisapride and simethicone. I also still have metacam on hand if necessary. Still eating, drinking, pooping and peeing. Chewing and bouncing around like normal. He did start this new thing where will lay...

Because why catch a break.... What is this?

We don't get chinchilla in at work often so I'm still unfamiliar with what's alright for them and what's not. We had a rabbit and she used betadine so I assumed it was perfectly fine, just wanted to confirm if anyone was aware. :] I have some on the way, so it should be here soon! Thank you...

Because why catch a break.... What is this?

I have to order it online, since I'm working 12+ hours so I won't be able to stop anywhere for it. It's just going to take another two days to come in, that's why I asked about something to use in the mean time. :]

Because why catch a break.... What is this?

I do not have any on hand but I can order some. Do you know the quickest way to get some? I have a handful of things available to me at work, but I don't know what would be chin acceptable or not. We have chlorahexidine scrub and solution, as well as betadine scrub and solution. Would either of...

Because why catch a break.... What is this?

I came home today to find this on my babies tail. I did not notice it yesterday and I'm positive it wasn't there the day before. He's e/d fine, and his bathroom habits are normal. Is this worth bringing him to work? Or could he have chewed it himself or snagged it on something. He's not a...

    HELP... Stasis, blockage, bloat, giardia...

UPDATE Haven't posted much recently, but I wanted to give an update to those who were following this thread. Bean is doing GREAT. He's consistently eating 20g of pellets every day, he's eating more hay and chewing everything I give him. His weight is increasing very slowly, so I'm hoping that...

    Essentials for Life

No longer need any, my little dude is eating on his own. :] She was sold out at the time I posted this but I managed to contact her and she got some to me before the date on her site. I owe her, her produce helped save my babies life <3

    Chins and dogs and cats

You don't want to allow interaction for several reasons. Chins are prey animals, so having them play with anything that 'hunts' is a terrible idea to start with. One swipe could leave your chin with a deadly infection. If the cat is declawed, you're still putting predator/prey together. It's no...

    Weaning from critical care

From what I was told... Start feeding him less CC. Weigh his bowl as you lower the amount of food you are hand feeding so you can monitor what he is actually eating on his own. I just had to do this with my little guy. I noticed him picking and I cut back the food, which eventually helped...

    Bloated Chinchilla

What medication were you given? You need cisapride, reglan, or both. How are her poops? Definitely get some simethicone and give a dropper full every few hours. Keep feedings smaller and more frequet, since there is less room in her stomach for the food due to the gas.

    Weight gain?

Okay, thank you so much! You've been such a big help with all of this. I really appreciate it :]

    Weight gain?

I've been mixing alfalfa in with his timothy hay since he was more likely to eat it that way. He's just so underweight, I hate it. :/ Should I leave out the fuzzieskindom supplements then? He really likes them and I've been giving him some just to entice him to eat more on his own.

    Weight gain?

How can I put some weight back on my chin? He has been through a lot recently(possible stasis, bloat, giardia, a seizure, and a dental trim) and is having trouble putting on weight. While I have been hand feeding him throughout this whole ordeal, he actually hasn't gained any weight. He lost...

    HELP... Stasis, blockage, bloat, giardia...

UPDATE: He's stable and they actually got him eating some pellets. While his poops are still small, they said it was a better consistency and he was going more often. I know for sure that they've been giving him metacam, and he's going home on Reglan and Cisapride. He had been grinding his...

    HELP... Stasis, blockage, bloat, giardia...

Sorry, the exotic vet had went home by the time I got here and a lot of emergencies were in. They're keeping him over night for him in the morning. :( I wish I had more to say than that. They'll nurse him throughout the night. I heard they were recommended on here so I'm trying to stay hopeful...

    HELP... Stasis, blockage, bloat, giardia...

Rushing him to Northstar in Jersey... He was head tilting and shaking. His belly is more distended than it was before. I'll keep you all updated.
