    Hello from Norther VA

Thanks for all the quick replies, yeah he's a very sweet boy. Still a little jittery since it's only been two weeks but we're making progress. I actually live in Alexandria, VA, so I'm not too far from Tyson's Corner. If you have any info on a chin vet, please let me know. As for feed store...

    Hello from Norther VA

Hi Everyone, I have been a member for almost a month now and have had my awesome chin - Louie, for exactly 2 weeks. I have finally gotten around to upload some pics of him. Enjoy! Oh yeah, he's a chubby one! He can look pretty mean sometimes!

    Soft Poo

An update on the situation. His poop is still soft, the shape is solid looking, but right after it comes out it's moist and you can squish it pretty easily. He also does not eat much of his food and hay. A lot of the hay is just pulled onto the ground and if I give him a handful of food, more...

    Soft Poo

The chin was born on 4/3/09 and he's on a rabbit feed I got from the breeder. I checked his poop before I brought him home and it was fine. The poop is not runny or anything just a little soft.

    Soft Poo

Thanks for the quick reply, yes he has unlimited access to Oxbow Timothy Hay. I've been reading a lot on the website and I'm following all the basics when it comes to food/water/housing/treats. I will call the breeder tonight and see what she says, thanks!

    Soft Poo

Hi Guys, I just received my chin, Louie, 2 days ago from a local breeder. I have been monitoring his food/water consumption. He eats his food (the breeder gave me some that she used with him), but seems to drink only a little bit of water (I use filtered water). Just last night, his poo is a...

    Chin's room

The reason I was wondering if it will affect his sleep schedule was because since it's so dark during the day (no window) the chin might mistake it for night and be active. So when I get off from work and turn on the lights, it might think it's day time and go to sleep. But I will probably...

    Chin's room

Hi guys, I am debating where to put the chin cage once I receive it. I live in the basement in a townhouse with a few roommates. I have my own small living area and then the bedroom. The living area does not receive any sunlight (no windows) and the bedroom does receive some light. I plan...

    Dust container?

Good point about the glass and dishwasher...but I heard you don't need to clean out the dust every time, just need to remove the poop and urine clots?

    Dust container?

thanks for the reply guys. I think the one I saw from a lot of pictures is that Super Pet Chinchilla Bath House. The only thing I'm worried about is plastic but I think as long it's not left in the cage it should be ok. The glass jars/containers from walmart also seems to be a great idea...

    Dust container?

Hi guys, I was wondering if you guys can recommend a dust container to me for holding the dust. I am in the process of getting my cage/accessories before bringing in my chinchilla. I would like the dust container to hold in as much dust as possible. I think I've seen a pretty popular one...
