    Frustrated beyond relief..

Thanks! How I've been training him is I'll stick the treat (raisin) in between my teeth and entice him into my hands. Once he is in my hands, I put my other hand on his back and hold him then he takes the treat from my teeth. He is used to it now. Lately I've been giving him new toys each week...

    Frustrated beyond relief..

It was just a suggestion, I'm not someone who has had 50+ chins. This is my first chinchilla.

    Frustrated beyond relief..

He has a pretty big cage for it only being him in the cage. So he has plenty of room to run around freely. I tried getting him a wheel but he tried it out about twice and didn't like it  He doesn't really chew on the salt lick anyway, but he loves the rice roll things that we got from...

    Frustrated beyond relief..

When I posted this, I was in a really annoyed mood. I really do absolutely LOVE :hearts: him to pieces. Sometimes he just sets me over the edge with waking me up at 3 am by chewing on the bars rapidly when I have to go to school the next day. Yes, I've researched a TON about chins before I got...

    Frustrated beyond relief..

I'm getting beyond frustrated at this point. I have a troublesome chin on my hands and lately he has been making so angry. I've had him for about a year now, and we've bonded pretty well but I fear he doesn't like me. He runs to the front of the cage when I come over but it's only because he...

    HELP!

At this point I have no idea what to do. I love my dear chinnie but he doesn't ever seem to calm down. When I go to interact with him, all he cares about is running around and screwing up everything in my room. He doesn't want anything to do with me. He eats paint on my window sill, chews my...

    Not very affectionate

I've had my chin for about 6 months and I got him when he was about 3-4 months old. We've gotten along pretty well but I'm not quite sure if we have fully bonded. He is a pretty hyper chin but he isn't very affectionate towards me. He doesn't like to be held at all, he doesn't let me scratch...

    Why does my chinchilla bark?

I was meaning that he wanted attention from YOU, not another chin. He gets lonely at night because there is no one around so he barks to see if someone is there to give him attention. In the end it works in his favor because I end up getting up to see what he is doing.

    Nipping?

So my Chin (Chester) tends to gnaw on his cage or get really excited to be let out. He'll jump by the opening and get happy, even if I'm not going to let him out. But one thing I've noticed is that if I try to touch his paws our put my finger by him he'll bite me. Not anything to cry about, but...

    Why does my chinchilla bark?

From what I've read they bark at night like that because it is their "contact call". They're feeling lonely and want to know that someone is there. My chester does this once in awhile around the same time frame.

    So frustrated

I've had this same problem! My chester is constantly biting his cage and it makes me so annoyed. I've gotten really mad at times because of his constant biting and yanking on the cage. Now that I know to just ignore him, he actually does stop! Thanks for the tip!

    New chin

We are coming up on our 2 weeks being home this Friday. Tonight my boo has made some big progress all tonight. When I went to take his water bottle out and refill it, he ran right to my hands an jumped up on my arm and started running around on my arm and was letting me completely pet him...

    New chin

Hey! I've had my chin (boo) for a week today. He is a boy and is about 4-5 months old. I had a couple of questions! 1. Can I let him have some playtime? Because I've read somethings that say don't let them out before 6 months of age. He's been out 2 times and the 2nd time he peed on my floor "/...
