Thanks! I just want to be prepared for Murphy's Law. If for some reason there is a traffic jam, better to have frozen things that could last a while. Maybe not to the excess I was thinking though lol. It will be a two hour drive from the breeders back home.

A/C works in the car and reads the temp. I am having him picked up. It's about a two hour drive. I asked her about carriers and she said she sends them home in one. As far as towels, I was going to cover them in fleece and tuck them under. Now, where to find a chin appropriate cage on short notice?

Thanks for this thread! I'm bringing my chin home next week and have been wondering how he will transition from an all-shavings surrounding to all-fleece with the exception of the baking dish potty. Hopefully the breeder won't think I'm crazy for wanting some of his shavings! :laughitup:

Finally!!! I feel like enough has been done to my cage to share with the club. Monk won't be home until the 26th this month, but I'm trying to make sure everything is ready. Water filter and food dish are on the way. My next trip will be to walmart to buy cheap towels to put inside the liners...

Can a chinchilla poo/pee in any food dish? My plan was to go with a clamp-on coop, so that it has stability. Any words against a clamp-on coop? I worried the veggie shaped food dishes would tip over or be used as a litter pan, but then started to wonder if everything is a litter pan. The hay...

I'm going to play videos of the hair ring checks on a big screen for my chin to watch, that way he can't say I didn't warn him. Although this won't change his reaction, I will avoid feeling like a big alien probing him.
