    Extra sleepy after playtime!

How cute. It's pictures like these that will make me sad if Oscar and Charlie don't get along when I finally introduce them.

    Oscar

Just wanted to post a new picture of this guy. He wasn't using the hammock when it was higher up in the cage but he took to it immediately after I moved it below a shelf. The skin around his eyes is still dry looking so we have an appointment at a different vet this week. I can't tell if...

Charlie's eye is glued shut :(

Another thing you could do to dissolve it is soak a tea bag and moosh it onto the eyes.

    My husband can sew?!

thanks, guys. We should be getting a sewing machine this weekend and then we'll do bigger hammocks and a liner for the big cage.

    My husband can sew?!

Soooo my husband didn't want to spend a ton of money on chinchilla stuff and insisted we could do the fleece stuff ourselves. I was skeptical since neither of us had ever tried to sew before. We went to Joanns and got some good deals on the fleece. We got a patterned one, and a solid to match...

Oscar bites a lot. It's pretty hard, probably just shy of breaking the skin. Is this something I can teach him not to do or will he do it forever?

    Oscar

I've been doing the antifungal bath for a couple nights now. Thanks for the advice, and sorry I thought I had put all the info, otherwise I wouldn't have said what I did. (I didn't mean for it to sound like I had an attitude) As for the stretchy thing, he didn't seem to have his stomach on it...

    Oscar

She did a skin scrape and they'll call me with the results soon. To be honest I didn't know what to ask other than "have you seen chinchillas before." She didn't tell me anything dumb or incorrect. If you read what I said before she did the scrape, said we should wait week to see if he improves...

I did go to the vet. She seemed to dismiss my concerns about a fungus. We bought some anti-fungal powder before going to the vet and if it won't hurt him I'll just put it in his bath and keep his cage cleaned every day. I also have some lamisil cream if that might work too? The stretching is...

    Oscar

How weird. Every time he steps up to a ledge he stretches his body and back legs then gets up on it. Maybe he needs more exercise?

    Oscar

In my opinion it does look dry.

    Oscar

Today his right eye seems to be looking a bit better. The left eye will take longer since it was the one that had the skin scraped. When I say "eye" I mean the skin around the eyes. His actual eyeballs look fine.

    Oscar

He was living by himself when I got him. To me it seems like some fur is missing and some is just laying down. Would he still be eating a lot with a tooth problem?

The girls enjoying apple twigs from ronda!

Cute! I kind of wish I had girls so I could put pink everywhere.

    Oscar

His original name was Onyx but I just didn't think it fit him. We went with Oscar because he makes a mess and doesn't care about being dirty with shavings all over his fur. Plus he's really pushy.

    Oscar

So I picked up another chin to introduce to Charlie. He wasn't taken care of and looks kind of...sickly I guess. The vet said he's fine. He's a good weight and eats a lot. His fur was rough but is looking better now. What worries me is the fur around his eyes. It just looks funny. Vet...

    What color is Brinkley?

Sweet! Check out my Charlie thread, I went through the same thing with his color. Thought I came home with a standard and learned otherwise from the people here.

    New Chin Owner Mistakes

Gerbils live a couple years longer than other small rodents and if you do it right do well in an aquarium with lots of stuff to climb on and chew. You can get a couple males or females together and they're fun to watch. They can also be tamed really well and can be very sweet.

    New family member: Charlie

When I showed the people in chat his belly they said he is a light eb? This is the picture I showed them:

    New family member: Charlie

I really don't know. I just got done holding him to show my niece and I want to give him his space for a bit but I'll check when I can I guess.
