    OK, after reading up on this I'm now suitably freaked. :eek: Hope it is the problem, and not, at the same time. Easily enough treated, but they live in a wood cage so that would be a royal PITA to replace.

    Kline pellets, occasional raisins/papaya/raw spaghetti. I'll have to read up on that 'silent giardia', though where he could have picked it up is a troubling question (we've had him for a few years and he's been pleasantly plump until recently).

    Worst case it's a pressure sore; it happens from time to time. Just keep it moistened and clean and if you have a grass mat or fleece for the floor it could help as well. If you have any pumice/lava rock ledges you may want to temporarily remove them.
