What's that in the bin bag???

Hubby was outside the other night, and heard a strange rustling noise... coming from INSIDE the bin bag that we'd just put out. In NZ we don't use the metal trash cans, we just put the bags on the roadside on the night before collection. As you can imagine, often we find dogs and cats rip...

    At last!

Hi all, got a story here! So I had a bit of a rough time when I was pregnant with my daughter. I developed Gestational Diabetes and Obstetric Cholestasis, which was frankly awful to deal with! I was very sick, and very very glad when my healthy wee daughter was born. Anyways, I found the...

    Rosey's birthday!

I got my Rosey from a pet store (very few decent breeders here in NZ), so I don't know her exact birthday.... only that she was born in early September back in 2004. So that makes my special girl 9 years old now! Here's the birthday girl, in all her freckly glory (and looking very annoyed at...

    Missing a friend :(

I've been wondering for a while now, does anyone know where Laurie has gone? She used to be on this forum a lot, and I really enjoyed chatting with her. I see her last activity was last year... can anyone tell me if she is at least okay? thanks in advance

Urgh, fleas! Any chin-safe flea remedies?

So recently I've adopted two stray cats. They aren't allowed in the house, but have taken to dashing through the front door every time it opens... hoping for more food I guess! Anyways, for whatever reason (I'm dumb, I know), I didn't think to treat them for fleas, and the inevitable has...

    Stray cat chaos!

So my neighbourhood is overflowing with cats, mostly without collars, so it's hard to know which ones have owners and which ones don't. Well two for certain don't... my husband and I refer to them as "Trashy" and "Bally". "Trashy" because he always sleeps on our recycle bin at night, and...

    Wild hog in the rosebushes!!

Found this lil guy/gal tonight, searching for dinner underneath my rosebushes. Thought you all would like to see! He was very friendly and didn't go into a ball. However, he'd had enough after a couple of quick photos, and made a dash for cover

    Fig wood?

Is fig wood okay for chins? I've got a crazy overgrown fig tree in my garden, and I was wondering if the twigs would be okay for my Rosey...

    beautiful wild swans!

I know they're not pets, but I couldnt resist sharing these pics of a family of black swans. I took them last summer, when I was heavily pregnant....the swans swam gracefully, whilst I waddled along the lakeside!!

    chinchilla bridges

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows where I might find chinchilla bridges... the type that attaches to the side of the cage, not the hanging type. I've seen some on the camphor chins website, but they are sold out til spring. Does anyone else make a similar kind? Rosey would love it if I...

    Coconuts?!

So the local pet store has these huge hollowed out coconut shells with a hole carved in the middle...they're meant as birds nests, but I thought Rosey might like one to hide in. They're easily big enough for a chin. So my question is, are coconut shells safe for chins to chew on? Thanks!

    Hello again!

Gosh it's been a while... like over two years I think! I've had an interesting couple of years, with lots of downs, but also plenty of ups. I lost two of my chins to malo (long time members might remember me talking about Jasmine's malo, way back in Jan 2010, but sadly also my Poppy got...
