I think one of the problems is that (at least the ones I've seen in pet stores) say 'safe for rats, chinchillas and other large rodents'. Some even have a picture of a chin in it. The company obviously doesn't know (or refuses to admit) that they are dangerous for chins.

What you can do is have a controlled playtime. I use a critter playpen with wire bars. They have a good amount of space to run but they can't get out of it so its easy to put them back. It hooks up to the cage so they can go out. To convince them to go back in I put a treat in the cage to lure...

Oh my god...just found a chin that comes with her 'cage'. A 55 gallon fish tank, lid included. Comes with a wheel too, how do you set up a water bottle in a fish tank? How the heck do you even keep a chin from over heating?!
