I breed in colony's, pairs and runs. Depends on the chin as I really prefer colonies but sometimes those just don't work depending on the attitudes of the animals. It's awesome when you can set up a colony and the females look after each others babies.

I've had very good luck with non producers in large colony cages with a good proven male. I think the exercise and the other females hormones might give the heat cycle a kick start. I've had 4 out of 5 produce before a year like this. With the last one pregnant just over a year, still yet to...
That is the saddest news. Poor little Jimmy.
Don't forget that that you made Jimmy was the happiest most loved chinny in his short life. He could not have asked for better care and love.

Really glad to hear you tossed those wheels. I have a chin with a missing back leg from one of those wheels. Her previous owner did not know and the chin got her foot caught and it broke the leg badly. It really sucks that people sell things are are very dangerous for the animals they are meant...
I have one very pissy Momma here, it's hard to handle her kits as she tries to nip me when have my hands in there. On a good note, she has had 4 kits here with me and not one is like her. They are all very sweet and calm. She is a really good Mom though :)
