I was not expecting this but I've had them for about 7 months now and there have not been any issues. They all sleep together in one hidey house in a giant furry pile...it's adorable. Terrible picture but it's hard to get them all together. Bottom left is Guinness who I've had for 10 years and...

Petco has them...it's the new "Planet Petco" brand. I also found foot long apple wood which he loves.

I've always used wooden ledges but I decided to try something new and he loves it. He pretty much hasn't left this spot since I put it in last night....I'm going to pick up a few more tomorrow!

Im not really sure...my chin was a rescue and they had no information on him. I've had him for 9 years now though. I'm guessing he was around 1 when i got him because in the condition he was in I don't think he would have lived much longer than that.

I had the 2 story version and the bars broke very easily with the ledges and chin spin. Other than that it was a great cage.

Finally got a FN 182 last night....upgrading from a feisty ferret. I'm pretty disappointed so far...it was actually missing a hole that I had to drill myself and nothing seems to fit right so I have to hammer every piece in. I'm trying to decide if I want to put the middle shelf in or keep it...

No...i gave my chinchilla to a friend to watch for 2 years while i was in college and when i went to pick him up it was like i never left. I did have him for 4 years before that so it might depend on how long you have had him.

Try switching to Mazuri. My chin would never eat the pellets in Kaytee Fiesta food either....but he loves Mazuri and you can smell the difference in quality when you open the bag. It even smells delicious to me.

I was visiting my friend who worked at a Petco and someone had just left a chinchilla at the store because they couldn't take care of it...he was missing most of his hair and looked extremely skinny. I had no idea what a chinchilla was or how to take care of one but i knew i wanted to make him...

I give him rolled oats as his main treat and he loves those but i figure 1 raisin every 3-4 weeks can't be too harmful. I did have rose hips too but they are impossible to find around here.

My chin throws like 70% of his hay out of the cage....i dont think its because he doesnt like it, i think hes just playing....annoying how much food he wastes but what can you do?
