    RIP little one.

thanks, guys : ) i feel a little better. he lived reaaaaaaally long, and i really did my best to take care of him. i played with him but i didn't bother him when he didn't want to be bothered. i fed him, i cleaned him, i made sure he was comfortable until the very end. it's good he got to...

    RIP little one.

thanks everyone. could some of you please just reassure me that he wasn't going to get any better? i mean, it wasn't likely he could recover (this sounded like some form of very late cancer, or maybe something neurological, maybe WHS?) i made the right choice, right? :(

    RIP little one.

we euthanized our hedgehog this morning at 11 am. it is august 11th, 2011... three 11's. i consider 11:11 to be a lucky time and number. he was about 5.5-6 years old, very ill with severe back leg paralysis. it was spreading up his abdomen, to the point where he lost bladder control and...

    time to euthanize?

thank you my dear. i have been crying hysterically all night and having panic attacks, but i think this is the right decision. he's lost control of his bladder too. he pees everywhere, in little squirts. it's SO sad. i took a video of his legs. i will post it a little later. perhaps someone has...

    time to euthanize?

hi all, i posted a few days/weeks ago about my hedgehog who was having some limping. he is anywhere from 5.5 to 6 years old. well, the "limping" has progressed into full blown hind leg paralysis. he can't move his hind legs. he can't drag himself to the food and water. i try to feed him and...

    WHS? Video included

my hedgie is 5 and a half years old (old, indeed, i know). he has been a good boy since i got him & had no health concerns, until now. he is limping pretty badly, and this started 2-3 weeks ago and it is getting slightly worse. he still runs, eats, loves to play, is gaining some weight from his...

    ...WHY!

I have been thinking about changing his dish but I would be wary of using something made of steel because he does bite everything that is new... and I could imagine him biting this, as well. He's bitten his wheel, and many hard things. At his age i'm concerned with oral damage of sorts.

    ...WHY!

My little boy who is not so little anymore, hehe, has developed the silliest habit in the past couple of years. Since I chaged his water bowl about a year ago, he is acting funny about it. I think he misses his old one. Sadface. He will drink from it, and when he has had enough, he will drag...

    Generally concerned! :(

Thank you! I'm so used to him being so energetic and lively and he seems a little slower. He likes his head being petted, he'll hold still for a picture... I think he's really enjoying his life. It's like the retirement age... with lots of kibble, backrubs and pampering :P

    Generally concerned! :(

Thanks, Nancy, that's great advice. I figured his weight may have something to do with his lack of activity, or the fact he does less of it. I have always been very picky about the foods I feed, I never would give him anything with too much fat (I read somewhere that fatter hedgies get tumours...

    concerned.

I agree with Charlie :) give him plain kibble and water for now, and the wheel should help with bowel movements for sure! When I first got my hedgie, he didn't use the washroom much and when I gave him his first wheel, he started becoming a pooping factory, haha :P

    Generally concerned! :(

Hello, everyone! Perhaps some of you recall me from the old CnQ? If so, hello. If not... hello! (: To start this post off, I will say my hedgie, who is aprox 4 years and 3-4 months old now has been a WONDERFUL pet. Aside from a minor ear infection in 2008, I believe, his health has been nothing...
