I've always heard that chinchillas can't get ticks or fleas because their fur is too dense for them to stick to. I'm sure someone who knows more about this will chime in, thats just what I was told in the past.

My chinchillas just figured out how to pull up the fleece and climb under it... so I need a chiller to place in the corner they do it in. What should I use? A granite tile?

I used to have one with a chube, never had any problems. I had it for about a year. Are you covering it in fleece? If so, you can just re-drill and the old holes are hidden!

I haven't seen a 6" PVC Pipe that wasn't like 8 feet long. If you can't find any short enough, you could always just use one of the large "Chubes" from a pet store. They are like 6" X 10".

Interesting information about hay.. I never knew all of that. I've always heard that second cut timothy was the best. Would that be correct?

A dust bath, cardboard fort, and people to jump on usually made them pretty happy to be out for play time.

I just switched to Reverse Osmosis. A gallon jug probably lasts about a month for my two chins, and costs like $1.20 at Walmart.

I'm sure one of the breeders I told you about would let you come and check them out. You could ask to give them hay and have one of them dust bath to see if you react at all. Just an idea?

If you can't find one you like, there are sites out there that let you make your own custom stickers. You can upload a picture that you find online (or one you took yourself), and they will mail them to you. A couple sites are zazzle or cafepress, just google Custom Stickers.
