Susan, it does look like a chewed up piece of wood. She did have some red kool-aid dyed sticks the other day, would that be a culprit, or even possible?

What kind of ointment were you given? Zia is having a similar situation, but it's near her eyes and i was given a certain eye-area cream to treat her with for a week. It worked the first time, but i'm always paranoid.

That is the coolest cage that I have ever seen. I wish my chins were potty trained :( I'm still using fleece, and after a while you have to replace it since it sometimes gets holes in the washer.
