Debating on getting another chin to keep my current chin company. Charlie is around 5-6 years old. Is this a good idea?

It depends, do you have the time and space for a second chin? New chins should be quarantined in another room for 30 days to allow them to settle in, for you get to know them, and for any illness to show up before exposing your current chin. Bonding can take anywhere from hours to months, and sometimes it never works out. Not all chins like other chins either, it's like putting two random humans together. Do you have the room for a second cage if things don't work out now or later? It can happen later on down the line that even bonded pairs can have a falling out and need to be cage separately.

Another thing to think about is has he ever lived with another chin before (besides his mom)? At about 5 or 6 he is a little over 20 in human years, so not too old yet but may be use to living alone, does he seem lonely?

If you want a second chin and have the time to potentially do two play times and have room for two cages it's worth a try. Some chins do benefit from having another chin in the same room to chat to, even if things don't work out for a cage mate. I have also had chins that enjoy a playmate but don't want to live together.
