Bald Tail?

I have a male I was planning on showing at York but two nights ago decided he didn't like his tail. Somehow he managed to rub off the hair off the top of his tail at the tip, and its bald. I know judges aren't supposed to judge the tails but is that going to affect his showing or should I not bother taking him?
 
Are you sure he didn't chew on it? That's the only reason I can think of a judge making comment on it, but I don't think it'd effect the overall placing.
 
I've had a "heavy thumb" before and no comments were made. I realize that it's the tip, not the base, but I bet it won't even be as noticable once the tail is cut.
