Hello. I was just curious about these chin shows. I thought chinchillas shouldn't be in loud noisy places? Isn't it scary for them to be in a little cage with people all around them?

I suppose there are varying schools of thought on the subject. Some take showing very seriously, while others simply prefer to keep chinchillas as pets. I fall into the latter category, though I have recently attended my first chin show as a spectator. Some chinchillas, I guess cope with a show environment better than others. It all depends on the chin.

Shows are neither loud nor scary. In fact it's typically quiet (if participants are respectful during the judging). Yes, the cage is small but most chins handle it pretty well. Not mich room to go crazy so they typically just sit/lay there.
