"Champagne" Chinchillas

For those who are Empress members, you probably already read that the goldbars and Lowe recessive whites were given their own subclass in the Empress show system called "champagne." The champagne subclass will be under the white class and will compete against the dark-eared whites and pink-eared whites for white class champion.

I've been breeding the "champagnes" for a few years now, from the Lowe recessive white lines from Canada and just wanted to share a few fun pictures of some of my babies.

I expect we'll be seeing a lot more of these on the show tables now! I heard the Western Canada Branch ECBC show also had quite a few!

Kawaii! Thanks Sumiko. Will you have any for show and/or sale at the Washington or California State ECBC shows? Attendees may be interested....Indeed, it will be interesting to see this mutation group develop.

I will be showing some this season but I'm unsure if I will have any for sale.

Here is a color comparison between some 3 month olds. The chins on the outside are pink whites and the center chin is a champagne. You can see that under show lights, the color difference is much more evident.

Yes, I often hear that they look like pink whites but you can see the difference under the show lights. They have a pretty golden glow to them.
