Hi all,
I went by my local food shop to pick up another bag of Innova Adult Low Fat Adult Cat food and they said they don't carry Innova because it contains either BHA or BHT (can't remember) which has been linked to cancer. In searching for a new possible food, I also noticed it's at the top of Reaper's list due to the meats as first ingredients. I'm not so sure I want to use Innova anymore if this is the case. Does anyone have any insight into this?? Thanks

BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole) and BHT (butylated hydroxytolulene) are artificial preservatives that have caused some folks concern. My understanding is they're related to kidney and liver dysfunction and increased risk for cancer.

I'm looking at the Innova ingredients list the company posted online (http://www.naturapet.com/products/771) and I'm not seeing either BHA or BHT listed - unless it's disguised under another name... I'll admit I did have to look up what "Mixed Tocopherols" meant at: http://lipidlibrary.aocs.org/lipids/tocol/index.htm

So, I think it looks like it's okay. However, if your go-to store doesn't carry Innova any longer and it's hard to find another store that does, I'd look at Fromm or Halo Spot's Stew as additional possibilities.

Thanks Mirranda. I also looked at the ingredient list and couldn't find anything, but wasn't sure. Maybe I'll look to switch him over anyway, just in case. Thanks for the other food tips

this kind of bothers me since Innova is one of the bigger parts of my hedgie (and cat) mix
If any one else finds any thing about this please post :)

so far i've only found what was mentioned about in the ingredients list...
