I have been looking at a new cage for my new chinchilla, Scoops. I found three that I am leaning towards and would be open to any other options as well. I like the Fiesty Ferret Home, the FN182, and the Large Mansion cage made by AZ Chins. They are all roughly the same size give or take a few inches. I am torn on the ferret homes because I read somewhere a chin can strip the material that covers the cage bars. Any and all advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

the three cages I've looked at.

Personally id go with azchins mansion...with ferret nations and things you usually have to replace plastic with wood/metal. And you're funding a local person that takes time out of their day to make accessories for chins! :)

Many people on here own ferret nation cages, and love them. I have a very similar cage to the ferret nation, and I love it!

My only worry with the azchins cage is the wire made shelves and flooring. I've never had it, so I can't specify the quality, but I would replace all shelves with wood. My cage had a wire bottom, so I bought pre-cut wood, wrapped it in many layers of fleece, and topped it with shavings. That might work for that flooring, too.

The wire Susan from AZchins uses for the cage shelves and floor is fine, I have had her cages before and was happy with them. Wire spacing is what you are concerned about, and wire is easier to keep clean and sanitary than wood is.

Well as far as the wire flooring goes, just go to your friendly home depot and get some granite tiles. Its the same thing as the overpriced chinchiller and I paid 8 dollars for 4 tiles :)

Easy solution to your wire flooring< as far as shelves go, I just made my own outta wood and put them right on top of the wire ones. Another easy fix :) a little creativity and youl be just fine!
